Blogging in Black and White
December 3, 2008 by Blogboy
As promised two days ago I am releasing my edits and upgrades to Revolution Two’s Code Blue Wordpress Theme as Blogging in Black and White. My versions has extensive upgrades in the SEO and functionality, which may or may not have come with the paid version of this theme. Here is the quick list and you can expect posts in the coming days to discuss each of them in detail.
- Easy to insert keywords through the theme option menu. Adding the page title to these keywords creates an SEO feature that is hard to beat. I learned this technique long ago from Courtney Tuttle’s Keyword Sniping posts (no longer available on his site).
- Integrated tags to meta keywords. If it was good enough to tag your post with it is good enough to make a keyword out of
- Advertising Ready
- Plugin Ready
- Post Thumbnails Thumbnail added to every post snippet. Blogging in Black and White uses the limit content function to allow you to set the number of characters displayed. This is more versatile than excerpts.

I do like the black and white! So the blog is in the colours black and white and is also about how to blog successfully, in a very simple way?? Brilliant idea! I´m going to have a look at your categories after this post.. I think I need to start with “what is a blog”… I do know, obviously, but it´s good to start at the beginning!

What is a blog is one of the most commonly asked questions, even by people who think they know. It is also one of the toughest for most people to answer unless they have actually thought about it and put it into words so many times that they have a good answer.
Very clean layout. I agree with you about Revolution- not everyone needs a magazine theme layout. I especially like the way you have a narrow side bar and then a wide sidebar on the right. Most themes make any sidebars equal in size.

Sorry it has taken a few days to get back to you, mark comment notification or lack there of as one of the things still not working right in wordpress 2.7. Thanks for the vote on the sidebars. Most people who design themes are graphic designers rather than coders or pseudo-SEO experts. I actually designed this theme working backwards from sidebar size knowing that I needed to fit the most common advertising and widget sizes into them. I have a couple more versions of this theme coming out, the next one will fix the operational errors that this version has. You might have noticed I removed the download link while I fixed it.
The other versions mostly have different sidebar configurations to accommodate different ad arrangements. I am also working on a couple of homepage options that will let me turn the theme into a magazine style using a variety of template options. Eventually I will get around to coloring the themes and such, but that is a ways down to road.
I think blogging in black and white is a great way to make your blog more user-friendly and easier to read.
may I know how to actually change the banner inside this theme? Which file should I update if I want to include new banner to it?
thank you.

which version number are you using. Some have the banners in the ad folder the newer version has the ads in the theme options…
I am using version 3.1. It’s ok now, I’ve managed to find the ad folder.. and I’ve added the ad and the banners to the files inside it. Thank you for a wonderful theme ;)
