Should I Pay For Design Services

I get asked often if people should pay for custom design services, and I usually tell them no.  Of course the people who usually ask me this have absolutely no web presence and no idea what they are doing so paying the big bucks whether that amount is a few hundred for a premium theme or a few thousand for total design services would be a waste of money.  I did find a company I would recommend to those who have a design budget and need an instant presence, Arizona Web Design.

They were recommended to me by another site owner who was selling their business. Not wanting to be impolite or risk not seeing who had done their site’s SEO I took a look.  Arizona SEO as they were called by my friend has done some impressive work.  They have had some pretty impressive clients too.  I didn’t ask what they cost, because I wasn’t interested nor was I about to embarrass my friend who didn’t make the most of money they spent on their site in other places.  However If she could afford them, then it wasn’t terribly expensive.

The one really cool feature I did find was their portfolio.  Even if you aren’t going to buy services from them, the cool before and after gallery is certainly a place to get design ideas.  My recommendation for bloggers is still going to be don’t spend any money you don’t have to at first, but I was really impressed with the work these people are doing.

  1. Using wordpress and downloading a theme isn’t exactly rocket science haha

  2. I agree. Wordpress has simplified blogging for all the non web learned folks. There are so many free themes and designs available, why should you want to pay for it?

There are plenty of reasons to pay for design services. You forget the world isn’t just personal bloggers hoping to cash in on what ever ads they can run or posts people pay them to make. First off not every blogger wants to use the same old themes everyone else does nor do they have the time or patience to learn everything there is to know about design and SEO. Secondly the biggest batch of blogs that should be paying for services are business bloggers. They just look cheap and tacky for using the same blog design everyone else does and often times don’t have the means to support in house design.

For the record don’t trust most of the free designs out there to have good SEO. The last 50 or 60 free themes with interesting designs I looked at on wordpress.org all had complete crap for SEO

  5. Do web designers have to pay taxes at the end of the year? Do they have to pay taxes on services such as web design, graphic design, etc? How much are the taxes for this? Where do I go to learn about it?

Despite the failing economy business credit can still be had.  In fact President Obama has asked for even more to be made available to keep our economy afloat and even to start new businesses.  let's hope it is enough. One company does seem ready to help, even bloggers who are setting ... […]
