Affiliate Tip – Build A Blog

A blog is a great way to add content to a site quickly. You can use a blog as an add-on to your regular website, or use it by itself. Either way, a blog allows you to share content, like reviews, articles, or short musings on a particular topic with your readers.

To create a blog, you will need some sort of blogging software as well as a hosting account. You have several options when it comes to both. The blogging software is usually free, and you have a choice of free hosting, or paid hosting it on your own domain.

The two big players when it comes to blogging software are blogger and wordpress. The main difference between the two is that the blogger hosts its software on its own server, and wordpress, is free software that you install on your hosting account. Once wordpress is installed, it is just as easy to use as blogger’s software.

Wile a wordpress blog is always hosted on your own account, you can host your blog free on blogger, or you can host it on your own hosting account and under your own domain.

Once you blog is set up, you will be able to start posting content. Using a blog is very similar to using email or a message board. You enter a title for your post and then type in your message. While you can’t use regular search engine optimization strategies, you can use your main keyword for the topic you are writing about in your title as well as in the beginning of your message or post. This will help search engine determine what your blog and this particular post are about.

Blogs also tend to be indexed fairly quickly by search engines, which means you will get actively searching visitors to your blog rather quickly as well. Blogs make another great tool in any affiliate marketers toolbox, since you can very easy and very quickly add more content.

To monetize your blog, you can work product recommendations into your post, for example, if you are an affiliate for an ebook on how to get your baby to sleep through the night, you could write a review about the ebook and post it on your blog, or you could write a short article about how new parents can cope with the lack of good night sleep until baby sleeps through the night and then mention the ebook as a resource at the end of your article.

Add links to some of your favorite affiliate products to the side bar of your blog, so they appear no matter what particular post the visitor is reading.

You can also add pay per click ads like Google Adsense either on the sidebar or in the individual blog posts. Here’s a tip if you are using google adsense in the body of your post. Make sure your posts are not too short and you stick to one particular topic per post. This will allow google to display ads that are related to your post topics and will hopefully be of interest to your readers and make them click.

Starting out on the internet can sometimes seem like there are so many choice that you don’t know which one to choose from. It is enough to make a new comer get overwhelmed that they are paralyzed with all the information on how to make money online.

If you are just starting out and not sure how to go about making money online then it is usually best to start at the most basic and work your way up. This means that you should always keep it simple, that way you have a foundation and something to fall back on.

Here are ten ways to make money online:

Number 1
You should open an account with Squidoo account. These are free to open and the time to set one up can be less than 10 mins. Once you open an account you can start writing a lens about something of interest to you.

Number 2
Open a Hubpage account. Again this is completely free and quite easy to do, you will be up and running in less than 10 mins. Both these sites are like having your own blog, but with hubpages, these are called having a hub. Again start writing about something of interest to you.

Number 3
Get a Wordpress account. This is also free to register and you can be done in less than 10 minutes. Once you open a Wordpress account, and then make a post about something so that you will get into the habit of making post on your Wordpress account.

Number 4
Open an account with Blogger. You can do this quite easily with a Gmail account. Again this is also free and quite simple and easy to navigate. Using a blogger account will help you to keep both your Wordpress post and your Blogger post the same.

Number 5
Sign up for an AdSense account with Google; this will help you to generate revenue from your free sites that you have just created. And most of these free sites already come AdSense ready all you have to do is plug and play.

Number 6
Sign up with Google AdWords account. This one is not free but it only cost $5 to open an account with AdWords. You will need this to advertise with Google so that your ads can be placed on their search engines or their content sites.

Number 7
Sign up with Clickbank. Since there is no restriction to sign up with Clickbank, this will be the place to start. All you have to do is sign up with them and this should not take you more than 10 minutes to sign up with them. And once signed up you will have access to promote all the products you want.

Number 8
Make sure that you are reading the terms of service with all the accounts that you open. For example you can put all the affiliate links you want in a Squidoo page but you are only allow two in a Hubpage. If you do not follow the terms of service you could find that your hub is deleted. Never click on an ad in your Adsense placement or you will be banned by Google.

Number 9
Now it’s time to promote your product. You will make a post for your product on your Squidoo, Hub, Wordpress and Blogger account. Just make sure that you are not using the same information on all four, as this will be considered duplicate content.

Number 10
Repeat the process with a new product. Just keep getting new products to promote and repeating the process.

Blogs are a great to gain good search engine placement because Google loves them. The reason why search engines love blogs is because they provide updated content. Unlike like a static website where everything stays the same.

SEO just easy because you can have a blog setup on your site in less than 5 minutes using free software included with your hosting service. Most blogs are already optimized for SEO and you can also add plugins that will help you further optimize your blog.

Here are some quick tips to creating a good blog strategy. Use these to make you receive good SEO traffic.

1. Write good content

One of the main reasons why people don’t see great results because their content is not sticky! If you have good content people will stick around longer to see what you have to offer. This also allows other webmasters to link to your content.

2. Choose the right WordPress Plugins

The beauty of WordPress is that it is heavily customizable. There are literally thousands of plugins that you can choose from that will allow you to rank high in the search engines.

Do a Google search for free WordPress plugins. One that I do recommend is “All In One SEO” this SEO plugin will pretty much handle all of your on page SEO for you.

3. Increase your link popularity

Linkbuilding is one of the most crucial elements to winning the SEO battle. The most links you have the better! There are many different ways to build links effectively.

Lastly, you must keep your blog updated with good content so that Google keeps indexing your posts and you keep receiving free traffic. I suggest posting at least every other day just to keep things fresh.

SEO Friendly WordPress Theme For Your Blog

February 18, 2010 by Cyrus Yung

There is much to be said on Search Engine Optimization, and it’s growing day by day. As Google, Yahoo and MSN have changed their algorithm over the years (especially Google who updates its algorithm every month). So how can we as bloggers keep up with the Jones?

One important factor which I found out is to use a WordPress Theme that is Search Engine Friendly to Google, Yahoo and MSN (especially Google, as 60% of searchers worldwide uses Google). They must have the basic SEO requirements, like on-page, site maps, internal linking etc.

Yes there are also other plug-ins to use for the theme as well to make it SEO friendlier to the web spiders.

Another tip: Using on-page optimization by using anchor text pointing it to your URL. This strategy must be applied on every post in you blog. For example, your blog’s primary keyword is “make money blogging”, so your anchor text must appear at the end of every post, directing to your URL. This will greatly increase your primary keyword’s strength in your home page.

There is also RSS to help inform your readers if you have a new post. What is RSS? RSS (also known as Really Simple Syndication)is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works – such as blog posts, news headlines, audio, and video in a standardized format. RSS also includes full or summarized text, plus meta data such as publishing dates and authorship. This must be easily installed into your blog, so to inform your readers of your new post or entries.

A SEO friendly blog theme must also have the feature that can help online searchers navigate the blog easily as well. It has been said that almost about 1/3 of the website in the world has not been fully indexed by the major search engines due to poor navigation in their websites, thus not able to show what they want to say or promote in the internet. This can happen to your blog as well when it is not easily navigated in your blog.

Another thing is that a SEO friendly theme must be able to load fast. If the searchers came to your blog and it takes like 30 seconds to completely load your blog, they will most likely leave after they browse 2 ~ 3 post. A good rule of thumb for loading time is less than 5 seconds. Most searchers will be not be able to tolerate less than 5 seconds.

Blogging is the trend that will overtake the website world sooner or later, where everyone can start to express their views on anything. All you need is a computer and internet access, and you can start blogging.

For your blog to be SEO Friendly, you will need to know the basics of SEO, but this can be done easily when you have a theme that will help you do that.
